  • Is a pit required for an elevator?

    Yes, typically, a 1.6 Meter deep pit is required. In some cases, we can provide a type of elevator that does not require a pit, but we recommend a standard type elevator that requires a minimal pit depth.

  • How much space does an elevator require?

    Normal elevator with machine room takes up about one-third of the space of a typical staircase.

  • How much space is to be left above the top landing floor?

    You need to keep around 1.8 meter clear space above the elevator cabin roof.

  • Can my elevator have doors on opposite or adjacent sides??

    There are several different ways to configure your elevator to fit nearly any situation, including opposite entrances and/or adjacent entrances. Contact UNITED experts for further details.

  • How far can the elevator travel?

    No limitation known so far. Tallest buildings in the world are having elevator provision.

  • Can a residential elevator be installed in a Church, commercial building or public building?

  • What happens if my home elevator looses power due to a power outage such as during a storm or fire?

    The Home elevator may be supplied with a battery backup emergency lowering system. This allows the elevator to move to a nearest floor and allows the doors to open so that you will not be trapped in the elevator. UNITED elevators also come with this emergency feature plus a host of other utilities.

  • Can the doors be opened if the elevator is moving or is not at the landing?

    No. An electro-mechanical interlock device prevents the doors from being opened when the elevator is in motion or away from the landing.

  • When should I start planning for an elevator for new home construction or my remodeling project?

    Preparations for your elevator hoist way need to commence as early as possible. Most elevators require a minimal 1.6 meter pit at the basement level, which must be sized correctly and meet specific criteria for your lift. To ensure that the dimensions and house plans are correct for your equipment, UNITED can provide you with detailed engineered drawing prior to commencement of construction.

  • What happens if I am trapped in my elevator or it breaks down after hours or on holidays?

    UNITED elevator has provisions to take you out of the lift at any untoward situation.

  • Do homeowners need a license for installing the elevators?

    Yes. UNITED team will be there to help you out.

  • Can I convert my existing elevator manual doors with automated door panels?

    Yes. You need the expertise of UNITED team for such modernizations. UNITED can provide a solution with thin automated door panels which can replace either a manual door panel or even collapsible gates.
